I have a silly little fish game that I play when I want to brainwash myself. And one day I sit down at the computer to play it and I notice that my mouse has broken down, instead of a simple click it double-clicks, and when double-clicking it does it 3 times. At first I got angry. Then I evaluated the alternatives: change the mouse or stop playing, because my little fish were behaving chaotically and I was losing points. But I realized that there was a third alternative: to adapt the game style to the current possibilities of the mouse. The game became interesting, I had a new tool and I made more points than I did with the normal mouse. In life you don’t always have the option to change the mouse, nor the option to stop playing, so it would be best to adapt your playing style. In the tarot there is a card called The Hanged Man, which shows a man hanging by one leg upside down with a calm and relaxed attitude. One of the interpretations of this card is “look at things from a different perspective”. When you sit with your head down initially you may be scared or you may no longer recognize familiar places or things, but after a while you begin to discover new values of them, qualities or defects that you could not notice from the usual position. When you can’t find a solution to a situation, no matter how hard you try, adopt the position of the hangman, look at that situation from another point of view. Don’t stick to a certain approach, change your perspective and the solution will come to you. When life gives you lemons, you can scrunch up your nose that they’re sour, or you can reach for some water and a little sugar and make the most delicious and refreshing lemonade.
WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, MAKE LEMONADE
