Spicy chicken wings with dipping sauce (AIP)

by Oana

Raise your hand who likes a serving of spicy wings with dipping sauce. Yes, me too 😊. Some will say that this dish is unhealthy. And they would be right. They would only be right if we buy spicy wings with dipping sauce from fast food restaurants where the wings are deep fried and the sauce is made with unhealthy stuff and lots of added sugar. But what if we make the wings at home, in the oven, powdered with just a little salt, pepper, smoked paprika and dried thyme? And if we make the sauce from healthy ingredients? It’s a dish that can be prepared quickly on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed at a movie with a glass of good wine.

Put the chicken wings in the oven heated to 200 degrees Celsius. After 15-20 minutes we turn them over and leave for another 10 minutes. When they are golden brown on both sides, with slightly crispy skin, they are ready. Meanwhile, we prepare this wonderful dipping sauce.

For this recipe to be AIP, we omit the smoked paprika, and instead of pepper paste or wasabi and pepper we will use ginger or horseradish.

    Ingredients

    • 200 grams of cauliflower
    • ½ medium zucchini
    • 2 tablespoons of nutritive yeast flakes
    • 5-6 cloves of garlic
    • 1 tablespoon of tahini
    • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
    • 1 grated teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon pepper
    • A pea-sized amount of wasabi paste or ½ teaspoon of chili paste
    • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
    • A few sprigs of finely chopped dill

It seems like a lot of ingredients, but each has its purpose in the taste or consistency of this sauce. Anyone who wants to eat varied and healthy should have all these foods in the house 😊.

The method of preparation is very simple: boil cauliflower and zucchini in salted water until the fork goes into them. Discard the water and let it cool for 5 minutes. Put all the ingredients in the blender, except for the dill, and mix until smooth. Now put the chopped dill, pulse once or twice, and it’s done. We can pour this dipping sauce in a bowl and enjoy spicy wings with the dipping sauce without any ounce of guilt.

We can also use this dipping sauce with nachos, sausages or other goodies.
