THE THIRD WEEK

Many people ask me: isn’t the diet too restrictive? Or: you are not craving the foods you’ve given up? I answer like this: food should not consist of coffee, alcohol, sweets and pretzels. These should be eaten occasionally, that way they wouldn’t hurt us anymore, plus we can enjoy them better that way. How much would you enjoy a coffee if this happened once every 2 weeks? You would certainly enjoy it more than if you threw it down your throat in a hurry every day, irritating your stomach. If the diet is too restrictive? Many of us think of food like this: some meat, or potatoes, or other legumes as the main dish, and maybe we add a handful of green vegetables on the side. I admit that was my mindset too. Now I retrain my thinking: a big salad with a small piece of meat on the side. I divide my daily menu like this: two-thirds green vegetables, one-third meat or fruit. And I alternate days with fruit and meat. Today I present to you a cauliflower dish with slight traces of chicken breast. Enjoy!

I told you a few days ago that I have no appetite for the excluded foods. I sat at the table with friends and I didn’t feel like looking at what they had in front of them, I saw my grilled fish with zucchini and mineral water with lemon. It’s not that hard to beat your food addictions. When I start reintroducing things, I will eat them, not them will eat me, my taste buds won’t be tingling for a cookie or coffee.

Pictured is my dinner from yesterday: turkey liver fried in duck fat, broccoli and cauliflower scalded and then pulled a little in duck fat and dill pesto, parsley, spinach, lemon and a drizzle of olive oil. Good morning!

Which do you choose, left or right? Vegetarians and followers of “healthy food” will choose fruits, and “carnivores” and followers of traditional food will choose chicken. But why do we have to choose? Why can’t we enjoy both? As long as we know the basic rules for proper nutrition, we can enjoy any kind of food. This chicken is not fried, but brushed with olive oil, seasoned with salt and thyme, and baked in the oven. Along with a green salad it can be a wonderful lunch. And if we feel like we ate too much at lunch, we can just eat some fruit and a tea in the evening. Or vice versa. Peace!
