DESSERT FROM RICE AND CARAMELIZED APPLES

by Oana

I cooked quite a lot of rice, the intention was to use it as a side dish for the barbecue, but, as I said, too much. Should I throw it away? It’s not nice to waste food. So I thought I’d revamp it into a dessert. I crammed the cooked rice (about a cup) into the bottom of a yena bowl, and on top I poured a sauce of 4 apples cut into pieces, boiled in a glass of water with 5 tablespoons of sugar, a handful of blueberries, a few drops of essence of vanilla and a teaspoon of cinnamon. I put this thing in the oven for about half an hour, and the result was amazingly tasty and even nutritious, which could also be used as a filling breakfast.
